Ashanti Expo 2026 Opens with Strong Investment Drive and Infrastructure Focus

The Ashanti Region has intensified its drive to position itself as a leading investment destination, as the Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene outlined key policy interventions aimed at boosting trade and enterprise.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the on April 6, the Minister highlighted measures undertaken over the past year to strengthen the region’s commercial ecosystem. Among them, he cited the clearance of arrears owed to previously contracted construction firms, a move expected to restore contractor confidence and accelerate infrastructure delivery.

He also pointed to ongoing development of major road networks across key trade hubs in the region, noting that these projects are at various stages of completion and are critical to easing the movement of goods and enhancing market access.

Addressing a cross-section of entrepreneurs, investors, and public officials at the event, Dr. Amoakohene called on the youth and business community to leverage the platform to project the region’s economic potential.

“It is an opportunity to open up the region for trade, for business, for investment and also to add skilled job opportunities for the youth,” he stated, urging participants to “sell the Ashanti Region in the most positive way” and embrace enterprise and unity.

The Minister further disclosed the availability of free zone enclaves across several districts, designated for industrial development. He encouraged investors, both local and foreign, to take advantage of these zones to establish production and value-added enterprises.

Held under the theme “Unlocking Business Opportunities in the Golden Heart of Ghana,” the Expo is organised to run from April 5 to April 9, 2026.

According to the Minister, the Expo is strategically designed to mobilise corporate and private sector investment into critical sectors such as education, sports, tourism, trade, and agribusiness. It also serves as a platform for entrepreneurs, state agencies, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), agro-dealers, and businesses to showcase products and services, forge partnerships, and expand market reach.

Organisers say the fair aims to strengthen the Ashanti Region’s profile as a competitive investment hub, offering opportunities for networking and collaboration while promoting indigenous enterprise alongside foreign investment.

With participation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, the is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing regional economic growth and job creation.
